​A scleral contact lens evaluation is a comprehensive evaluation using specific technology to fit highly customizable rigid lenses.

 

Scleral lenses are extremely customizable contact lenses often used to treat people with high refractive errors, corneal degenerations and dystrophies like keratoconus, eye injuries and severe dry eyes.  The lenses work by creating a smooth optical surface and a protective cushion of moisture over the cornea, keeping the cornea hydrated and masking corneal aberrations that degrade visual acuity. During your evaluation, we use advanced imaging to map the shape of your eye and laser coherence tomography to precisely design the lens to fit the eye like a glove.   This allows for the absolute best visual potential and often accompanies a significant increase in the quality of life for many.
